apic organizing

we are right smack dab in the middle of the beginning of organizing for the 2010 all power to the imagination conference. there is a lot to do and even more to learn than we thought possible from last year, like how to manage and set up web sites for one ;). we are still working on the kinks of this website so if you happen to find this blog entry before we've updated it, keep that in mind (please). hopefully the apic conference and more generally this website will be rich resources for networking, organizing, and education for activists, radicals, community organizers, and anybody everywhere! apic is gaining momentum in its third year of fruition. we are looking forward to continuing the tradition of creating a safe space for all different types of people to share their knowledge and build a collective praxis (praxis is a heavy term but basically means informing one's actions with critical thought and reflection of the past and contexts of knowledge-or what others have said and done as well) for successful social movements and community struggles. Since a major focus of the conference is on creating this safe space where participants feel encouraged (not just by the organizers but each other) to explore their imaginations in a public forum--it is vital to consider issues of accessibility and language in the conference itself. all the time voices from the margins are lost in the loud speakers or the mainstream. voices of those with no formal education are lost in the loud proclamations of academia....to be continued.
